Who knew?

Standard

My heart is burdened this morning for a dear friend.  The doctors have run tests on her unborn granddaughter and, due to the results, are encouraging the mother and father to abort the baby.  I have prayed and prayed for this sweet little angel and her parents that God will provide wisdom and complete peace in their lives to know that HE is able to heal and deliver despite what doctors may say.  I pray that they will trust the Lord and not go through with terminating this pregnancy which = terminating a LIFE.

I don’t begin to know what they’re going through because personally, I’ve had three normal, healthy pregnancies.  When we hear of situations such as this, it does bring to our minds the question “Why?”.  Know this:  God doesn’t mind us asking questions and He will always answer…in HIS time.  We just have to learn to wait on the Lord.  And that can be tough.

As I have been praying for this family this morning, the Lord brought several people to my mind to prove that His ways are higher and better than our ways.  Here are some examples of God’s plan in action beyond the understanding of many:

Rev. David Ring

Few individuals have felt the crushing blows that have besieged David Ring since birth…On October 28th, 1953, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, David was born with Cerebral Palsy. Orphaned at age 14, he was cast about from family to family with nowhere to call home….Life was worse than hopeless to him until his relationship began with Jesus Christ who taught him self-respect and acceptance of his physical challenges….As a nationally known speaker since 1973, David shares his story with over 100,000 people each year at churches, conventions, schools and corporate events.  (http://www.davidring.org/about.html)

Nic Vujicic

Born in 1982 in Brisbane, Australia, without any medical explanation or warning, Nicholas Vujicic came into the world with neither arms nor legs. Imagine the shock his parents felt when they saw their first-born brand new baby boy for the first time, only to find he was what he world would consider imperfect and abnormal. A limbless son was not what nurse Dushka Vujicic, and her husband Pastor Boris Vujicic had been expecting….Little did they or anyone else know that this beautiful limbless baby would one day be someone who would inspire and motivate people from all walks of life.

God uses Nick to touch lives and bring the hope of Jesus Christ to people across the globe.By the age of 19, Nick started to fulfill his dream of being able to encourage other people and bring them the gospel of Jesus through motivational speaking and sharing his testimony about how God changed his life and gave him a future and a hope.

Today, this limbless young man has accomplished more than most people accomplish in a lifetime. Nick made the massive move from Brisbane, Australia to California, USA in 2007, where he is the President and CEO of a non-profit organization, Life Without Limbs.  (http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org/)

Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow was born to parents Pamela Elaine and Rev. Robert Ramsey II who were serving in the Philippines as Baptist missionaries.  While pregnant with Tim, his mother suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba.  Because of drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the fetus (Tim) experienced a severe placental abruption.  Doctors had expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion…but she decided not to have one. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Tebow)

It’s hard not to know of all of Tim Tebow’s accomplishments during his football career; however, his greatest joy is sharing his love for Jesus Christ.  And through the venue of football, he has reached literally millions with the gospel of Christ.  John 3:16…

Wow…who knew?  Who knew that these who would seem doomed from the start would be used to run such victorious races?  Who knew they would be used by Almighty God to share the only message of hope – Jesus Christ – with a world eager to hear the truth?  Who knew?

God knew.

Before they were ever conceived, God knew every circumstance of their lives and created them perfectly to fulfill His plan.

God has a plan for everyone.  What man sees as flaws, God sees as opportunities.  In our weakness, HE shows Himself strong.

As I pray for the family dealing with the decision regarding their unborn child, I pray that they will understand that God knows…He knows exactly what’s going on with that baby girl and He cares for her and loves her more than anyone on this earth ever could.

Father, show Yourself strong and powerful.  Thank You that You are still the God of miracles.  Let us not overlook true miracles while looking for what we want or think should be; Your miracles come in all shapes, sizes, and forms.  And they are every one beautiful to You.

Who knew?

Who knew before your first breath breathed what you would do, who you would be?

Who knew before in your mother you rested, just how your life would be affected and tested

And desires to lead, guide, and use you, knowing you can change the world?

Even before you’re born, sweet tiny one, still hidden, growing, and curled.

God knew.

And God knows every breath you’ll take, every day you’ll face, every move your little limbs will make

God knows your challenges, trials and tests, and He walks with you every step of the way.

Help us as parents to trust in the Lord, to place you safely in His strong hands

Knowing that, if you’ll let Him, He will arm you and strengthen you to fulfill His mighty plan

No matter what you face in this life, dear one, do yourself a favor

Turn your eyes upon the One who loves you most, cling to and follow your Savior.

About therigginslife

I'm a redeemed, sold-out believer in Jesus Christ, a daughter of the King of kings! My life has been abundantly blessed with an amazing, godly man and three precious sons. If I could sing all day long, I would; but not just any songs move me. I love all sorts of music, but I soar when I'm singing about my Savior. Almost as much as I love to sing, I love to write...so here goes nothin'...

  1. Who knew, yes, God knows all things. We look at the so called problems and valleys we face and then we hear this type of news and our valleys and problems are nothing. Praying for this family.

  2. We too were given a grime diagnosis for my daughter at 18the weeks. She has a congenital heart defect that requires 3 open heart surgeries. I too had a doctor suggest to terminate the pregnancy based upon her condition. I frankly told him that the doctors do not hold my babies heart, my GOD does. He created her this way and he has a perfect plan for her life. Tommorow she turns 9 months old, she had open heart surgery in march and is doing fantastic!! GOD has truly blessed her and I look forward to a bright future for her. My advice to this couple is trust GOD no matter what the doctors say he has a plan.

  3. Robin…in 2008 when our daughter and son-in-law went for their 18th week ultra sound they discovered that their sweet baby boy Robert “Murray” had Posterior Urethral Valve Syndrome causing urine to back up into the kidneys because the urethra was blocked. McKenzie had in utero surgery to open the valve but it was too late…one kidney was definitely damaged beyond fixing and they weren’t sure about the other one…she had no amniotic fluid…Bob and I were in the hospital room a month later when the doctor came in and told us that there was no hope that the baby would be carried full term nor would he survive birth…she was mandating an abortion at 28 weeks which would mean that they would have to travel to another state which allowed such atrocities…

My grandson was going to be named after his uncle who died in Dec 2005 and his dad’s best friend who died in Aug 2005…Bob and I had watched this young couple walk through some troubled and deep waters and were not surprised when they looked this doctor in the eye and and explained that God had created this sweet boy for a reason and although it may not the outcome they had expected they were going to honor God’s gift and trust in His wisdom which was greater than man’s….

They carried Murray for the next two month…always with a prayer in their hearts…many people prayed knowing that only God could heal this sweet bundle…They elected a C-section…once again the doctor wanted to have a vaginal birth but they wanted to give their baby every chance of life…with no fluid the baby would have suffered injury and probably wouldn’t have survived a vaginal birth…so on a Wed morning Murray entered our world and blessed us for 21 hours…

Hard…yes…especially for parents watching their child journeying this path…blessings? Oh, yes…too many to be counted…

McKenzie has turned to others going through similar paths and she always explains that God makes no mistakes and while we may never know on this side of heaven the why…we know the Giver of all good…

Angie Smith and her husband Todd (lead singer of the Christian group Selah) had lost their 3rd child in a similar fashion and Angie wrote a book I Will Carry You (Selah also wrote a song with the same title and recorded it). I have carried this with me ever since…

“I don’t know why she is gone but I do know WHO had the final say and because I know WHO…I am WILLFULLY unconcerned with why”

I will pray for your friends…for the peace that we don’t understand but that will come and guard their hearts no matter what their decision is…

    thanks for sharing their story….
    Susan Disher

  4. I will also be praying for this family. God is always in control, and the best thing we can do is trust Him for every outcome of every test. Thank you for sharing this with us, and for also sharing your lovely poem.

  5. I will be praying for these parents that they will make the right decision and trust God. We must
remember that even in our own problems, there are those with greater needs. God is able.

  6. A young couple who are friends of mine were told to have an abortion, that their baby had downs syndrown, they chose to carry and next year she will graduate high school, is beautiful and is checking out colleges. Most of all she has no Downs Dyndrown and is a devout Christian. My nephew and neice have a Downs son who is 31 years old this year. They are so blessed with this young man. His mother says he has taught them so much more than they could ever teach him.

  7. I am so thankful for everyone’s comments! What testimonies to God’s grace, mercy, and sovereighnty! Your replies have blessed my friend’s heart and she shared with me yesterday that the little baby has been doing the “chicken dance” inside her Mama’s belly! Trying to prove to the world she’s alive and well! Keep praying!!
